Hudsalva - a blue collar work balm

Named for the field salve carried by the Swedish Armed Forces, Hudsalva is built for hands that earn their keep. Beeswax, from The Colony in Tyngsboro, gives it the waxy resistance you feel on the scoop. Grass-fed tallow  (made from suet from Cross Stone Farm in Lancaster) is the backbone. Shea softens on contact, lanolin holds moisture in, and castor lays down a film that's still there after you wash up. It melts in with body heat and leaves the honest working film that's the whole point of a salve like this.

The scent is black pepper, Scotch pine and frankincense — warmth, sawdust and old-world resin. Blue-collar, and it smells good on purpose.

HOW TO USE

Scoop a small amount, warm between the fingers, and work into hands, elbows or feet. Best after washing up or before bed. A little goes a long way.
